Nilesh Patel is a dedicated commercial real estate and hospitality attorney at MW Law. Spending 15 years growing up inside of a motel/hotel, Nilesh has a wide range of experience in protecting business owners’ interests. This unique upbringing has given him a deep understanding of the hotel and real estate industry, from both an operational and economic perspective. As an attorney with a focus on the hospitality sector he brings a comprehensive approach to the practice, blending legal expertise with practical acumen.

Prior to joining the firm, Nilesh spent part of his legal career serving as Associate General Counsel at the Texas Hotel and Lodging Association, where he represented hoteliers and other tourism industry professionals in day-to-day legal matters, hotel occupancy tax issues, and ownership issues. In addition, he advocated at the Texas State Capitol for legislation and regulations that would promote a strong and growing business climate within Texas. This experience allows him to maintain a strong connection with both the state and national hotel associations, stay informed about key changes in the law, and potentially influence legislative changes that impact real estate and hotel owners. These connections help his clients adapt their businesses as laws and regulations evolve.

Nilesh’s experience spans from small to large real estate transactions, which allows him to determine what is adequate and required for specific properties, ensuring the best outcomes in acquisitions and dispositions. Moreover, as real estate and businesses are passed from generation to generation, Nilesh understands the legal concerns around family business succession planning when acquiring or disposing of and understands how to navigate complex ownership and management structures involving intricate corporate governance matters. His ability to quickly grasp the best approach and advise on the best planning and protection strategies is a significant advantage for his clients.

Nilesh received his B.A. in Business Marketing from the University of Texas at San Antonio and his Juris Doctor, Cum Laude, from Western Michigan University – Thomas M. Cooley Law School. His overall knowledge and experience allow him to assist clients on all phases of a business life-cycle with an “owner” mindset to obtain favorable outcomes.
